Today I turn 50. Hard to imagine, I still have so much to figure out. Well, having a birthday sure beats the alternative…

Anyway, my agenda today includes laundry and grocery shopping. Tonight my military buddies Jeff and Scott are convinced they are going to get me drunk. They say no wussie beer, you are doing shots. If that is the case, it will be an early night.

I don’t have any great insights upon achieving this milestone. I feel mostly just very alone, but I am dealing with it. I will not succumb to sadness on this day. I promise!

To those I love, know I am with you in my heart and wishing we could share this occasion.

Happy Birthday !! My grandfather always used to say that you’re either getting older or you’re not. As someone a little older than you, I can assure you that you get used to being ‘over 50′ really quickly. And the nice part about it is, if you have a negative thought about your advancing chronological age, the early onset Alzheimer’s helps you forget that negative thought.

Just KIDDING about the Alzheimer’s. Again, Happy Birthday.

PS As I arrived at the Dept. of ED yesterday my first sight was of the perimeter chain link fence being erected with barbed wire on top. It’s being set up to keep the tourists and the bureaucrats out of harm’s way while they do some repairs to the building. It does make it look like a prison. Well, actually, a prison with cute little red school houses in the ‘exercise yard’.

Happy Birthday! Just a little late , but I wanted to say thank you for your comforting words the other day. With the passing away of my mother this past year, it is friends like you that keep me going. Hope all was well on your 50th !
